Neal receives more charges
Minden, La. --
Mar 5, 2010 --
Webster Parish Sheriff’s property crimes investigators have added two new charges to Alvin Dwain Neal, the man arrested earlier this week for felony theft by fraud.
Neal allegedly received money from individuals in exchange for the provision of household carpentry work; but then never completed the things he was paid to do.
Now Sheriff’s investigator Det. Tommy Kemp has added the new charges, saying that after Neal’s arrest other victims came forward.
“Once I looked into the new reports of his [Neal’s] fraudulent actions it was clear that he had gone all over the Parish with his scams,” said Kemp. “He didn’t deny he’d taken the money, either.”
Kemp says that the monies that Neal has received under such pretenses are adding up quickly. “Between the cases we’ve worked and those that Minden Police are working there are thousands of dollars he has swindled from people,” he added; and most, investigators say, seem to be from the aged.
“I’ve said before that there are a couple of things in particular that I do not take lightly,” said Webster Sheriff Gary S. Sexton. “And that’s when people mess with our kids—and when people mess with our elderly.”
The District’s judicial system appears to concur with that notion, as each of the three felony charges Neal has now received from parish investigators has been awarded a hefty $50,000.00 bond.
