Webster deputies bring in four on drug charges
Minden, La. --
Jan 22, 2010 --

(L-R) Tiffany D. Brown, David James Woolworth, Charles A. Williams, and Joel Rivas, Jr.
Webster Parish Sheriff’s narcotics officers Lt. Shawn Baker and Sgt. Barry James, with assistance from the Minden Police Department, conducted a search warrant Friday that resulted in the arrest of four from a Clay Street residence.
Tiffany D. Brown, 26, of Minden was charged with one count of distribution of a CDS Schedule I.
David James Woolworth, 23, of Minden was charged with one count of possession of a CDS Schedule I.
Charles A. Williams, 35, of Minden was charged with three counts of distribution of a CDS Schedule I.
Joel Rivas, Jr., 30, of Minden was charged with conspiracy to distribute a CDS Schedule I.
These arrests followed a three month long investigation conducted by Sheriff’s narcotics officers. “We had received information about potential drug activity at the Clay street residence,” said James. “And we made several undercover buys at that location.”
Arrest warrants were issued and officers set out to locate the suspects.
“When we entered the home both Brown and Woolworth [residents in the home] were present, with children,” said James. “The children were safely turned over to Child Protective Services; and the two adults were taken into custody.”
Before deputies could complete a search of the home, another of the suspects arrived with the suspected intention of buying drugs. Rivas, another Clay Street resident, was quickly arrested outside the home when officers identified him.
“Word got out to Williams [the home’s owner] that we were looking for him so he hid out for a while,” explained James. “But we found him and brought him in, too.”
During the search of the residence, deputies and Sheriff’s K-9 “Chesapeake Cyndi” located what is suspected to be marijuana, along with several items of drug paraphernalia.
“Woolworth admitted to having weed—but only for ‘community use’,” concluded James. “We are very happy to have removed both the dealer and the drugs from the community.”
All four individuals were transported for booking into the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
