- Sheriff’s K-9 “Chesapeake-Cindy” aids in bust
Dec 22, 2009 --

(L-R) Lemarkus Deon Scott, Raymond Gaylord Casaday, III, and Dianne Leigh Allen
Webster Parish Sheriff’s Deputies put three more behind bars this week for drug charges. Stemming from either undercover investigations or from basic traffic stops, deputies have racked up more than a dozen for narcotics involvement this month.
On Monday Lemarkus Deon Scott, 27, of Springhill was arrested by Dep. Lt. Luster Coleman following the issuance of a warrant for his arrest. Webster narcotics investigators Lt. Shawn Baker and Sgt. Barry James conducted an undercover buy on Scott which resulted in the warrant for distribution of a CDS Schedule II (crack cocaine.)
“We’ve followed his activity for a while,” said Baker. “And we did an undercover buy and received crack cocaine from him. It tested positive, the warrant was issued and the arrest was made.”
Scott has a lengthy history of violent crimes including robbery, aggravated assaults and simple battery charges.
In a separate incident late Monday night deputies Sgt. Jeremy Robinson, Dep. Ricky Corke and Reserve Scott Herrington responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle parked on an oil field road in the Heflin area. This call led to the arrest of two.
Raymond Gaylord Casaday, III, 44, and Dianna Leigh Allen, 26, both of Ashland, La. were taken into custody. Casaday faces charges of possession of a CDS Schedule II (crystal meth) with intent to distribute and illegal possession of a legend drug. Allen faces charges of possession of a CDS Schedule II with intent to distribute and open container. She was also found to be a fugitive from Natchitoches Parish.
“When the guys inquired as to what the driver and occupant were doing they noticed the passengers’ suspicious behavior,” explained Chief Criminal Deputy Bobby Igo. “They decided to investigate a bit further to determine what was going on.”
Deputies called in Community Action Directive Patrol Team Leader Dep. Lt. Robert Hayden and his K-9 partner, “Chesapeake-Cindy” to assist.
“Chesapeake-Cindy definitely showed interest in the car,” said Hayden. “Plus we could also see open containers of alcoholic beverages in the vehicle; so we had clear cause to search the vehicle even though the owner refused the request to do so.”
Upon search of the vehicle deputies discovered and seized baggies of suspected crystal methamphetamine, unidentified pills, scales, syringes and other paraphernalia.
All three individuals were transported and booked at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
