Deputies, police join on drug bust in school zone
-Bust turns up stolen property belonging to Webster school board
Minden, La. --
Nov 19, 2009 --

Amy Darlene Davidson
The Webster Parish Sheriff’s Department and Minden Police Department joined together on Tuesday for an inter-agency operation that resulted in the arrest of two.
The effort began following a lengthy undercover investigation into Amy Darlene Davidson, 43, of Minden who was allegedly distributing illegally possessed prescription drugs including Xanax and Soma.
Sheriff’s investigators Lt. Shawn Baker and Sgt. Barry James, along with Minden police investigators Lt. Marvin Garrett and Lt. Dan Weaver, implemented several undercover buys from Davidson during the course of several months.
Davidson was picked up on warrants for distribution of a CDS Schedule IV (Xanax), distribution of a CDS Schedule V (Soma), and distribution of a CDS Schedule IV and V within 1000 feet of a school zone.
“This arrest resulted from a typical undercover investigation,” explained Baker. “But in this case, the target was selling drugs directly across the street from an elementary school—so obviously it became a high priority.”
Webster Sheriffs and Minden Police investigators partner regularly on such operations, as so many illegal narcotics activities overlap into and out of city and parish limits. “Minden police investigators are always happy to share intelligence with us—and vice versa,” said Baker. “Partnering in these investigations makes us all more efficient in our efforts and keeps us all safer; we always appreciate the cooperation and assistance provided to us by Minden.”
During the arrest and search of Davidson’s West Todd Street residence the officers located two computers that had been recently reported stolen. “The computers were reported stolen from a local school just a couple of weeks ago,” said James. “Information we obtained in the investigation led us straight to the suspect in that theft.”
Michael Kevin Downs, 38, of Minden, was arrested by Minden Police investigators Garrett and Weaver and was charged with illegal possession of stolen things. The equipment was recovered by police investigators and is scheduled to be returned to the Webster Parish School Board.
Davidson was booked into the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on bonds totaling $70,000.00.
Downs was booked at Minden Police Department and was released on bond.
