The Webster Parish Sheriff’s Department, in efforts to plan for the impending rains and storms predicted to affect our area, has taken the following preparatory measures to coordinate response efforts:
- Department issued and personal chainsaws have been collected, sharpened and assigned to a number of patrol deputies and administration within the Department.
- Inmate work crews have been established and prepped, and are on call for removal of debris from public roadways and public properties.
- Reserve deputies will be on standby for assignment to provide necessary traffic control or rerouting in areas of danger.
- Local fire departments and volunteers are called in to assist in a coordinated effort for removal of downed trees.
- The Department is ready to offer assistance if called upon by other regional agencies, as well.
“We are ready to make a department-wide effort to respond if needed to issues stemming from flooding and/or severe winds,” said Sheriff’s Chief Criminal Deputy Bobby Igo. “From patrol and corrections to administration, each deputy here has a place in our response efforts.”
