Headless calf draws questions
Oct 27, 2009 --
Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies and local brand inspectors are investigating the October 19th theft of livestock and alleged ritual killing of an estimated 350 pound steer calf.
The dead calf was found by individuals at the Out Post Truck Stop on US Hwy. 79 near the Webster-Claiborne parish line after buzzards in a nearby tree drew attention and curiosity. The carcass of the calf was found in a creek behind the business, and its head had been removed.
The Webster Parish Sheriff’s Department and Livestock Brand Commission are trying to identify the offenders in this case. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1000.00 for the identities of those responsible for the theft and killing of this steer calf. Anyone with information or leads is asked to call the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Department at 318-377-1515 or the Farm Related Crime Stoppers line at 800-558-9741.
