Ingram trial comes to a close
- Sheriff says in this case ‘nobody wins’
Minden, La. -- Aug 17, 2009 --

BOBBY R. INGRAM

A weeklong trial ended Sunday night for defendant Bobby R. Ingram, who was accused of shooting and killing his ex-wife, Kim Ingram, during a struggle that took place nearly three years ago in Webster Parish. Following a near six-hour deliberation, the jury returned with the verdict of manslaughter, which can carry up to 40 years imprisonment.

According to Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton, while his office is relieved to have the case closed, they are equally solemn.

“This entire situation is heart wrenching,” he said. “It was a tough case; a tough trial. In cases like this one, nobody wins. Everyone affected in this loses. The families lose, the community loses—especially the children lose. I’m pleased that we’ve reached an end; but can’t help but be troubled for everyone involved.”

Ingram was remanded and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where he is held while awaiting sentencing.

Sheriff Sexton finalized his comments by saying, “I can only hope that people watching and reading about this case will learn from it. Make yourself stop and think before reacting to anything in anger. No dispute is worth loss of life or loss of freedom.”
