Routine traffic stop results in drug arrest
- CAD Patrol team efforts productive
South Webster Parish, LA -- Jul 17, 2009 --

During a directive patrol assignment in South Webster this week, Webster Parish Sheriff’s Community Action Directive Patrol team officers made a routine traffic stop that quickly turned into another drug arrest. Following the stop, officers observed strange behavior by the passenger. The man was quickly stuffing his clothing with something that later fell from his pant’s leg.

“He was digging around in the front seat and then shoving stuff down his pants,” explained Deputy Bobby Igo, III, a CAD Patrol officer. “When I had him stand up, the drugs just fell right out.”

Prescription pill bottles containing an assortment of illegally possessed medications fell out of the passenger’s pant’s leg. Following a search, the officers also found syringes and an opened alcoholic beverage, and both were taken into custody.

April C. Williams, 26, of Dubberly, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, no driver’s license on person, and improper lane useage.

Michael Shane Sumnar, 35, of Sarepta was charged with possession of a CDS Schedule IV (Xanax), possession of a CDS Schedule III (Lortab), open container, and possession of a legend drug (Soma).

Both were transported without incident and booked into the parish jail.
