Sibley woman arrested for carnal knowledge of a juvenile
Sibley, La. --
Jul 17, 2009 --
CHARNEQUA M. BENTON
Earlier this week the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Department responded to a call for assistance at the Southwood Apartments in Sibley following a domestic disturbance at the home of Charnequa Meich Benton.
Upon arrival on scene, the officers questioned the parties involved and determined that Benton had assaulted a sixteen-year-old juvenile boy by throwing a knife at him and biting him on the upper arm during an argument. No serious injuries resulted from the battery.
Following an interview, Benton, 21, admitted to officers that she had taken the juvenile in to live with her several weeks prior and had held an ongoing sexual relationship with him during that time.
Benton was arrested and booked into the parish jail on the charges of aggravated battery, domestic abuse battery and carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
“We work too many cases where adults are sexually involved with juveniles,” explained Sheriff Gary Sexton. “I don’t understand it—but hope people will very quickly learn that it’s an act that this office absolutely will not tolerate.”
