Early this morning two of Webster Parish’s heavy drug dealers were taken into custody by Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies following a search of their south-Webster residences.
Derouen Roan Henderson, aka “Run Down”, 33, of Sibley was arrested on two outstanding charges of distribution of a CDS Schedule II narcotic, powder cocaine.
Lindsey Maxie, aka “Champ”, 26, of Dubberly was arrested on two outstanding charges of distribution of a CDS Schedule I narcotic, marijuana, and the additional charge of possession of a CDS Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute which was added following the search.
According to Sgt. Det. Shawn Baker of the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Department, the searches were conducted on warrants issued following a four-month-long undercover investigation.
“We’ve been after these guys for a long time now,” Baker explained. “Both of them were major dealers in the south end of the parish.”
With help from Minden Police officers and Sibley Police Chief Jeremy Robinson, the two dealers were investigated and searched, and drugs and cash were seized.
“Henderson has been dealing in Sibley,” said Robinson. “And we don’t tolerate that. Our office was happy to work with the Sheriff’s Department to make this bust.”
Upon search of the Maxie residence, narcotics investigators discovered and seized what is suspected to be marijuana and money received from the sale of drugs.
“He [Maxie] had a bag of what looks like marijuana in one pocket, and $4,692.00 in the other,” explained Baker. “When we asked him about the money he just said it wasn’t his. We seized it as evidence. We believe it’s most likely drug money.”
Both individuals were taken into custody and transported without incident to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center for booking.
These two narcotics arrests followed 25 others that were made in the last two weeks by Webster Sheriff’s investigators and partnering agencies.
Sheriff Gary Sexton says that his Department is being proactive in sending a clear message to people that drug activity is strongly punished.
“We’re fighting this hard,” he said. “It’s a fact that in tough economic times, more and more youth will be tempted by local drug dealers to get into illegal activities to bring them income. But they may only see the immediate benefits of it and not the long term pitfalls and dangers. So we’re making it very clear—you will be caught and punished; and it’s simply not worth it.”
The Webster Parish Sheriff’s Department is talking to area youth about the dangers of drugs and the punishments of the crime. Last night the Department’s new Community Action Directive Patrol team spoke about “Choices” to a group of teens who were present for Teen Court, a peer-to-peer traffic court for teen drivers.
