The major function of the Criminal Investigation Division, under the direction of Major Jay Hortman, is to investigate cases that go beyond the scope and duties of the Patrol Division.  Our investigators handle all adult and most serious juvenile cases involving criminal acts and drug activity.

 

Crime Scene & Special Investigation

Captain Dustin W. Reynolds

 

This office investigates all crimes against persons or property.  We document and investigate any complaint that involves such crimes as vandalism and fraud, or robbery and homicides--and most criminal acts in between.

  • Process crime scenes, collect and secure evidence
  • Custody of property and evidence
  • Use of forensic science and special training in processing special evidence
  • Fingerprinting
  • Investigation of crimes against persons or property such as theft, burglary, organized crimes, cyber crimes and homicides

 

Narcotics Investigation

Captain Robert Hayden

 

The primary function of this office is to document and investigate any complaint involving the illegal use or distribution of controlled dangerous substances.

  • Investigate illegal use of controlled dangerous substances
  • Gather and report intelligence data relating to trafficking in narcotics and dangerous drugs
  • Investigate illegal distribution of controlled dangerous substances
  • Immobilize violators and trafficking organizations
  • Conduct undercover operations

 

 

 

 

 

This meth lab evidence is one of dozens our Narcotics Division locates and dismantles annually.

 

Narcotics Canines:  Nationally certified canines Chesapeake Cindy and Mollie work with the CAD Patrol team to take narcotics from the streets of Webster Parish.  Handlers - Cpt. Robert Hayden (Cindy); and Dep. Joel Thomas (Mollie.)

 

Juvenile, Domestic, & Sex Crimes

This department handles all investigations relative to juvenile offenders, adults who commit violent and/or non-violent crimes against children, domestic crimes and sexual assault cases.
